Biometric Screening
Living a healthy life and understanding your health risks are major components
to the Health is Wealth Program. The Biometric Screening program provides
you with a health report card and educates you on your individual health risks.
Since being introduced as part of the 2008 Health is Wealth Program, it has
received great participation with over 360 individuals taking advantage of the
screening process.
Now we all have the opportunity to see how the positive changes on our lifestyle
will impact our biometric screening scores this year! Being able to compare
your scores to see your improvement is just one of the advantages of continuing
to receive biometric screenings.
The complete screening program, including counseling, takes about 30 to 40
minutes. Services are performed by a certified technician and include:
- Blood Pressure Screening
- Cholesterol Screening*-Full Lipid Profile. Screening requires fasting 8 hours prior to testing.
- Diabetes/Glucose Screening*—Metabolic Syndrome screening for Type 2 diabetes
and cardiovascular disease
- Spirometry (Lung Function Testing)—measures air flow and air volume of the lungs
- Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) Screening*—blood test used in the early
detection of prostate cancer (applies to men only)
- Metabolic Testing for Weight Management—10-minute breathing test to
measure your resting metabolic rate
* blood test is a quick, simple finger prick performed by a certified technician
 Getting Started
Please contact Human Resources for the screenings schedule. We
welcome your spouse and children over the age of 18 to participate in the
Biometric Screenings—however; the 150 Health is Wealth points will only be
awarded to you (the employee) when you (the employee) completes the
screening program.
Waiting Period
The biometric screenings performed by Heart Screen, Inc. must be taken at
least 6 months apart for you to see the measurable results from your lifestyle
changes. If your initial screening was in November 2007, you will need to
schedule your next screening after May 2008.
Completely Confidential
The information contained in your Biometric Screening and personalized health
report are completely confidential. The law requires IGHL not see or have
access to this information. Heart Screen, Inc. (a third party vendor) will send
IGHL a list of employee names who have completed the Biometric Screenings.
You will receive 150 Health is Wealth points when you (the employee) completes
the entire screening process.
